Committees:

The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment should be chosen for this office.

It is the duty of deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith. (Excerpts from the Book of Order: G-6.0401 and G-6.0402)

Vision:
To create and sustain a nurturing environment of openness and acceptance in which we share our common bond of Jesus Christ and care for one another.

Goals:
To maintain active, continual caring support and contact with the congregation by a chain of members and staff.

To care for those in need.

To provide a wide variety of opportunities for church members to participate in fellowship and service opportunities outside of worship.

New Initiatives:
Deacons have been recently been trained to provide lay Communion service to members of our congregation unable to attend regular worship services for health/ physical reasons.

Deacons will participate in the Prayer of Invitation as part of regular Sunday worship service.

Deacons will be involved in assisting Adult Education committee on developing new ideas for upcoming educational offerings.
