Thank you all for your generosity to First Presbyterian’s 2005 Alternative Gift Market. We raised $6399.00 this Christmas season for local and world missions. This was our 15 th year for AGM at First Presbyterian and the 20th year for Alternative Gifts International. What a great way to celebrate! Below is our recent giving:2002 - $5,398.00 Because of your generosity people will be helped in so many ways locally and world wide. I am so touched every time I look through the AGM catalog. We gave to hunger relief, shelters, medical assistance environment, child survival, sustainable agriculture, water and others. We saw that Alternative Gifts International knows how to get the gifts to the needy in reliable ways. They make use of Catholic Relief Services, Mennonite Central Committee, and Partners In Development and other established services as well as handling the relief directly with their own people. And we know all the local services and the good that they do all year long. I had reservations about how we would do this year after we had given to Tsunami relief and Katrina relief. But our Church came through with flying colors. In the next weeks we will be sending your gifts to AGI and all the local agencies as you directed with your orders. This is a wonderful mission outreach of our church. The first Alternative Gift Market was started by Harriet Prichard in the Pasadena Presbyterian Church in California in 1980. More information about Alternative Gifts International can be found on their website www.altgifts.org. There you can also find links to their IRS Report to verify their tax-exempt status. There is some need for gifts throughout the year. If that is an interest to you, please let us know. We can make this service available as needed. Call Judy or Barry Baker or Beth Marstiller. Thanks again to you each and everyone who made our AGM a success by your generous giving. Thank you to Carol Lind, Sally Silliman, Cheryl Rolpf, John Winter and Beth Marstiller for your assistance.
